What are Chakras?
The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit (ancient language) and means spinning wheel or disc.
Chakras are spinning wheels of light – essentially energy centres that are situated along our spine. They are wheel like vortices that exist in our etheric body. Our etheric body is our body double, also known as our subtle body. It is the first layer in our energy field. This is the body we utilise when astral travelling, dreaming, meditating or have an out of body experience. There has been lots written about out of body experiences – particularly when people speak about their Near-Death Experiences.
The etheric body and the physical body share an intimate bond of interdependence and what affects one, affects the other. It is through the etheric body that prana/chi or life energy can be absorbed into and distributed through the physical body. This energy moves through our chakras. Chakras function as gateways through which subtle energies and information are channelled to us from our environment and astral planes.
The chakras are the regulators and transformers - they absorb, integrate, and transmit prana/chi/ life-force energy to our subtle body. They take this information and energy and move it through our meridians – which run throughout the body like an intricate irrigation system.
We have many chakras. The first 12 deal with the physical aspects and the next 20 or so deal with the spiritual. Today we are going to discuss 7. Each chakra nourishes and regulates a specific area of our being and this is because these particular chakras are body based and operate according to physical laws. These chakras contain clues to everything that affects us. They regulate the human energy system and seek to maintain equilibrium in health while assisting the mind and the souls need to grow, develop and heal
Which Way Does Each Chakra Spin?
Honestly, there is no definitive answer when it comes to chakras spinning.
Some believe that when our chakras are open and balanced then they spin in a clockwise direction, spinning energy away from the bottom of our spines to the crown of our heads. On the contrary, when a chakra is blocked or unbalanced then it may spin counter-clockwise.
Others believe that the chakras spin in a clockwise direction in order to release energy out of the body, while chakras spin anti clockwise in order to pull energy from the external world into our being.
This chart is designed to help you understand each chakra – its functionality, bodily connections, characteristics, regulation and dysregulations. It outlines essential oils and crystals to enhance or assist with alignment. This information helped me greatly when I was first starting out and diving into the world of energy. I hope you find it helpful and beneficial.
