Meditation was something I discovered over 30 years ago and to this day, I can still recall the very first time I sat in meditation practice. I had been struggling with some family issues at the time and I had sought a reading from a local psychic to obtain clarity. This was an absolute life changing experience for me. I had been so distressed and the emotional pain at that time, had been all too consuming and this psychic had made suggestion that I was to return to her house the following Monday night to experience meditation- in fact - she insisted. "I will show you many things" she said. I was definitely interested in all things spiritual and very keen to learn these things and yet meditation was not something that I had ever thought about doing - in fact, at the time, the thought of it scared me! Anyway - I turned up - keen to learn all these things and thinking I'll just entertain her and this meditation piece. So long story short - it was the best and most life altering decision I have ever made.
I have sat in many meditation circles, experienced many meditation facilitators along the way and here's what I have learned:
It's about the practice itself. It's about incoorporating the practice into your daily life that makes it so life changing.
If you choose to develop and deepen your meditation practice - the practice is in the practice.
Whether you are a novice or an astute meditator - it is the nature of meditation practice itself that is the constant. And this practice over time will consistently meet you where you are at.
Your practice is likely to appear to change over time. The reality is that your practice is meeting you where you are at.
The practice of meditation can, and for me definitely did, and continues to do so, strengthen my immune system, reduce and change how I respond to stress, people and situations and allow me to experience a more restorative sleep and even improve my memory!!
The practice reminds me of the moment. This moment is the only moment we truly have. The practice, by its very nature - has allowed me to love this moment - right here, right now.
Did I learn all those things from the psychic as promised? Yes I certainly did and the practice of meditation was the most profound of them all. Did I practice every day? do I still practice every day? In the beginning for the first two years at least - yes I did. I was dedicated and very disciplined. This was in, and of itself the life changing component for me. Then as often does, life seemed to get in the way and my practice started to wane. It took some time for me to realise the implications of this wanning and it showed me exactly what I had gained from the practice in the first place. During those 30 years, I picked up the practice and dropped the practice and picked it up again many times. Every time I dropped or allowed my practice to wane, I came to the same result - "What the fuck was I doing? - why would I drop something so profoundly life changing?" So here I am, deep into my practice again - experiencing all the things my practice has to offer me. Oh yeah, one of the things I learned that I did not mention in the list above, is that my intuition, connection to spirit and my psychic ability grew tenfold!!
Over the past 20 years I have facilitated thousands of meditations and my practice itself has allowed me to channel many meditations. You will find meditations on my website available for purchase as well as some for you to experience free of charge. Do I offer a meditation practice in a group setting where you get to experience meditation with me personally? Yes I do. I have both an evening and a day time option available. If you would like to develop and deepen your mediation practice - I am here for you. In the meantime - enjoy this little meditation offering.
