Quality Questions

Questions are something that, as a reader, I encourage. My preference, when commencing the reading is for NO questions to be asked until I feel that the connection between my client and myself is strongly established. For me, this simply means that my client is relating to almost everything I am saying. The reading will eventually get to a point where I encourage my client to ask any questions that they may have that the reading has not already covered off.

Sitting with a client a few weeks ago and I was reminded that the quality of the question directs the information that the cards will ask you to explore and yes I know this as a reader and as such, I will pose the questions out loud so that the client can advise if this is what in fact they were asking. (I never want to assume that I know what the client is truly asking - you know what they say about assuming!) What I am referring to here is that as a client, it is also important that you think about what it is that you want to specifically know. In this example, this particular reading had been focused mostly on the clients career. Great - easy right? Specific questions were asked and specific information was given and explored in relation to the clients career. It is what happened next that reminded me of the quality of the question and the direction that the cards can then take you on.

After I had explored the clients questions about their career, they sat quiet for a moment and then formulated a great question about their family in relation to their career. It was this moment that both he and I realised that the true question he had wanted to know the answer to was not as simple as asking questions about his career. It was also about the impacts and opportunities that would show up for his family as a result of the exploration he was being invited to investigate.

So take time when formulating your questions as this can make a huge difference in the depth your reading will take you on. Asking "What if" questions are very open ended and they will lead you to an open ended answer. Personally, my suggestion is to bring it back to the present moment before seeking to move into the possible future realm. If you have been feeling anxious or restless, then maybe start with that question. "What has led me to feel anxious/restless?" "Do I need to resolve something or work on something before I move forward?" My favourite question is "What am I pretending not to know about XYZ?" New and different questions can take you on a whole new journey and these types of questions will definitely give you a more in depth reading.

Lulu Fletcher doing a reading

Do not rush your questions. As you can read in the clients story above, taking a moment to formulate a different or more aligned question helped him to gain a deeper understanding of what he truly wanted to gain insight of, and therefore more information about the journey he was about to embark upon.

It doesn't matter what it is that you want to know about - work, family, love, career or money - what does matter is how you pose the question. So next time you are headed out for a reading - take sometime to formulate some deeper questions. It's not absolutely necessary but it will absolutely change the depth of your reading. The questions are really the intention that you would like the reading to head in. Taking time to formulate more aligned questions can take your reading in a whole new direction and potentially take you to the next level.
