Structure of Tarot
The Tarot deck is divided into two sections. The 22 Major Arcana and the 56 Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana is then divided further into "suits" - Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles. Each suit has four court cards - King, Queen, Knight and Page, as well as ten Pip cards.

Major Arcana
The Major Arcana forms the foundation of the Tarot deck and consists of 22 cards. They are the "movers and shakers" of the Tarot deck, "bigger Picture" stuff. They represent a path to spiritual self-awareness and depict the various stages we encounter as we search for greater meaning and understanding throughout life. Your patterns at that moment. They hold deeply meaningful Lessons.
Minor Arcana
The remaining 56 cards are known as the Minor Arcana. These are the cards that provide the "every-day detail" and deal with practical aspects or issues that have a minor or temporary influence. Your situation in that moment. These cards are made up of 4 suits - Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles. Each suit is strongly linked to the 4 elements - Air, Fire, Water and Earth.
